The state of Goa is located on the Western coast of India and is known for its scenic beauty, architecture and rich cultural history.
There are fine beaches and pretty natural inland scenery, popular with travellers and more recently property buyers. Up until 1961 Goa was a Portuguese settlement and had been for 450 years. Goa is situated 350 miles South of Bombay and has an international airport.
The fine food, including an abundance of seafood, good weather, friendly people and such a mix of cultures and religions are just some of the reasons people are attracted to Goa.
Buying a property here is becoming increasing popular with prices starting at £10,000 for a studio apartment, up to approx £110,000 to buy a three bedroom detached duplex.
But there are restrictions on foreigners owning property here and the guidelines at present are unclear and opinions conflict. In light of this uncertainty Knight Knox are only recommended Indian Nationals buy a property in Goa, not non-Indian Nationals. We will review this as and when general opinion and law change.
