This surge in passengers has caused many to tip Manchester Airport for an extremely busy summer, with more and more jetsetters set to use its services.
The figures also detailed that international passenger traffic had jumped 12% as more and more families hopped on a plane to enjoy their summer holiday abroad.
A number of new routes, such as Air Canada Rouge’s new non-stop service to Toronto, are being claimed as factor for this surge.
In fact, passenger numbers are up so much that Manchester Airport has had to announce plans to take on extra staff to deal with the queues literally forming out of the doors.
These statistics all point to an extremely successful summer, where records are set to be broken and tourist numbers visiting Manchester could even bypass last year’s incredible figures, when 10.3 million tourists visited the historic city.
